HAP CareSource awarded HIDE-SNP coverage in new regions, providing Medicare, Medicaid and Long-Term Services and Supports to Michiganders under one plan

TROY, Mich.  — HAP CareSource, a mission-driven health insurance plan, today announced it will offer Highly Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (HIDE-SNP) to select counties in Michigan beginning Jan. 1, 2026. This plan is for people 21 and older who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, giving them access to one comprehensive coverage plan. It also offers Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) aimed at assisting older adults and people with disabilities with their everyday activities at home or in assisted living facilities.

“We are proud to offer this comprehensive coverage to some of our most vulnerable Michigan residents,” said Michigan Market President Sarah Musser. “The introduction of HIDE-SNP reflects HAP CareSource’s mission to provide extensive health coverage and quality care, ensuring that those eligible have access to the full range of services they need to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.”

HAP CareSource was awarded the ability to offer HIDE-SNP coverage by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services in each of the regions where they submitted bids. This includes regions 6 (Huron, Tuscola, Sanilac, St. Clair, Lapeer, Genesee and Shiawassee counties) 7 (Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties), 9 (Livingston, Jackson, Washtenaw, Hillsdale, Lenawee and Monroe counties) and 10 (Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties).

“We are dedicated to offering affordable access to care and additional life-enhancing services to those navigating complex care situations,” said Margaret Anderson, interim president of HAP. “HAP currently offers plans for these dually eligible members in 50 counties with DSNP HMO and PPO plans. Through this award, HAP CareSource will bring that expertise to more members through the highly integrated offering, which we’ve been successfully piloting through our Medicare-Medicaid plan, MI Health Link, demonstration.”

HIDE-SNP will be available to HAP CareSource members in Macomb and Wayne counties on Jan. 1, 2026, and in the remainder of regions on Jan. 1, 2027.
